Natural Dye By Tara Macdonald
I recently had the pleasure of helping Tara tell the story of her natural dyeing practice through photography. We spent time in her garden, where she lovingly grows the plants that become the heart of her work. Surrounded by colour and texture, I captured portraits of Tara in her element, as well as glimpses of her creative process and the beautiful pieces she produces.
The result is a collection of images that reflect not only her craft, but also the deep connection between her, the land, and the materials she works with.
“I run a small artisan business as a natural dyer and craftsperson so I was looking for a photographer who I could work with to capture the essence of me and my brand. Lucy was the perfect choice- we spent a glorious afternoon in my dye garden playing with ideas and styling and creating a series of beautiful images. Lucy was able to make me comfortable for my portraits which are natural and relaxed. The images not only look professional, but reflect the individuality of my practice and lifestyle.
